The Flaming Chalice has become the internationally recognised symbol of the Unitarian movement.
The lighting of the chalice is a feature of communal worship in Unitarian congregations. The basis of the flames is that of three elements: fuel, heat and air, depicting ancient, modern and ever-changing.
ASD Jewellers were commissioned by the Hewerdine family to create a Flame Pendant, using the local "Blue John", incorporating the banding purple and white veins into the Chalice. This was so successful that earrings, brooches and rings soon followed.
